Located at the foot of the famous Galibier Pass, the name of Valloire has its origin in the 11th century words "Vallée d'Or" - The Golden Valley - The village of 1300 inhabitants is composed of 17 hamlets located between 1400 and 1800 m high.



Located at the bottom of the Galibier Pass, Valloire is an authentic traditionnal village inhabited by 1300 people. You can find all around 17 hamlets.

Valloire : tradition d'accueil

In Valloire welcoming is an integral part of the village. The Galibier pass used for ages, has modeled the spirit of its inhabits who however managed to handle the destiny of their town. In the shops, on the slopes or in the case of a conversation, people from Valloire always have stories to tell you. Therefore a special spirit emmanates from this place.

In the summertime the days won't be long enough to do all the things proposed : via ferrata, climbing, hiking, swimming, play golf , tennis...

Each week-end a village fete is organized: "Valloire Autrefois", "La fête patronale", ...

Le Col du Galibier

This pass, famous thanks to the Tour de France, is the natural fronteer between the south and the north of the Alps.

Around this mystical area you can admire other great summits, such as the "Aiguilles d'Arves", enjoy the beauty of the nature and, why not, see ibexes... Not far from here, two national parks : "la Vanoise" and "les Ecrins".
